Install in four steps

Run the installer. Open Sheafpress-1.0.0-win-x64.exe. You choose the install folder, and Sheafpress installs for your own account without needing administrator rights.
Start your first book. Choose the sample to look around, import a manuscript from Word, Markdown or plain text, or start a blank book.
Write. Your work saves automatically as you type, in your own user folder.
Export when you're ready. The trial includes DOCX and ACX export. For EPUB, print PDF and covers, buy a license and paste your key into Settings.

Windows may warn about an "unrecognized publisher."

Sheafpress is a new app, and Windows SmartScreen warns about downloads that have not built up a reputation yet. If you see "Windows protected your PC," choose More info, then Run anyway. You can check that the file is the one we published by comparing its SHA-256 checksum above. In PowerShell: Get-FileHash .\Sheafpress-1.0.0-win-x64.exe.

One trial per computer

The trial is 14 days from your first launch, once per computer. Reinstalling Sheafpress does not restart it. To make that work, the app sends a hashed (one-way) device identifier to sheafpress.com when it starts, until you activate a license. Nothing about your manuscript or you is sent. See the privacy policy.

Where your files live

Sheafpress autosaves to %APPDATA%\Sheafpress and keeps a rolling backup beside it. For your own safekeeping, use File, Save project to write a .sheafpress file wherever you like. Double-clicking one opens it. Uninstalling the app does not delete your files.
